Come learn how to bring new life to old t-shirts and books! In this 2-hour workshop, you will learn how to take a t-shirt and turn it into your next reusable grocery bag and you'll learn how to turn a used book into a planter that can spice up your home decor while being kind to the environment. You’ll walk away with one completed bag and planter to enjoy.  Join us in an atmosphere for new and experienced makers looking for their next DIY project. *All materials are provided, but please feel free to bring a used t-shirt or book of your choice.

Gather & Make Workshops were developed for the purpose of creating an inviting space for members to practice different mediums. Taught by experienced makers, these workshops are to cultivate a creative community and explore different mediums in a supportive environment.

This event is a part of our Book to Action series. All attendees will have a chance at winning a free copy of The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben. Read the book and feel inspired to protect and enjoy the trees of Monrovia!

A special thank you to California Center for the Book (CCFB) and its Book to Action grant for supporting this series. CCFB is a program of the California Library Association, supported in whole or in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian.

The library makes every effort to ensure our programs can be enjoyed by all. If you have any concerns about accessibility or need to request specific accommodations, please contact the library.
